JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – Aurous Resources, a leading South African gold mining company operating the historic Blyvooruitzicht and Doornfontein gold mines on Johannesburg's Far West Rand, today officially announced the appointment of Peter McCrystal as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). McCrystal steps into the executive role at a pivotal moment as the company enters a steady state of high-margin production and advances plans to ramp up production over the next five years.
McCrystal brings more than 25 years of specialized corporate finance, deal strategy, and transactional due diligence experience to Aurous Resources. He spent a significant portion of his career as a partner and director at PwC South Africa, advising on critical business drivers across varied sectors including banking and mining. His proven expertise spans complex corporate unbundlings, international listing requirements, capital structuring, and navigating cross-border regulatory compliance.
Driving Long-Term Growth and Operational Value
"We are pleased to welcome Peter to our executive leadership team at such an exciting time for our operations," said Richard Floyd, Founder and CEO of Aurous Resources. "Peter's exceptional background in financial strategy and structural due diligence aligns perfectly with our vision. His insight will be vital as we maximise our extensive, 34-year gold reserve base, ramp up production, processing efficiency, and scale our workforce."
Throughout his career, McCrystal has guided major landmark transactions in Southern Africa. Notably, he helped structure early Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) transactions and assisted South African Breweries (SAB) with regulatory compliance for its transformative London listing. He also brings deep familiarity with private equity capitalizations, having contributed to pivotal transactions such as the acquisition of yacht builder Robertson and Caine.
Strategic Oversight for Expanding Mining Assets
At Aurous Resources, McCrystal will take direct oversight of end-to-end financial operations, capital management, and strict corporate governance. His appointment reinforces the company's commitment to leveraging big data analytics and rigorous risk analysis to unlock sustainable value from its assets on the West Rand.
I am excited to join Aurous Resources and work alongside Richard and this ambitious team," said Peter McCrystal, newly appointed CFO. "The company has quietly built an incredibly strong foundation with long-life, highly scalable gold assets. I look forward to applying a meticulous, solution-oriented approach to our financial management, ensuring we capture structural efficiencies and drive maximum return for our partners, shareholders, and local communities."
